Dr. Cornel Jones is a Field Supervisor in the Department of Education at Austin Community College. His current role entails guiding future educators on best-in-breed educational and managerial practices. He has spent his entire career educating children and adults, starting as a teacher to elementary school principal to a university professor. Also, he creates a stimulating and engaging learning atmosphere in which students and colleagues become life-long learners.
Dr. Jones is a motivating and talented leader who inspires students and collaborates with fellow researchers and educators to pursue academic and personal excellence. For example, he has mentored doctoral candidates and emerging administrators in their quest for career advancement. Also, during two research trips to South Africa, he promulgated how teachers and administrators can thrive and lead in diverse contexts. His focus on innovative and interactive teaching practices throughout the lesson or presentation has catapulted learners to greater heights. As an exceptional instructional leader, he has ensured the best academic outcomes using data-driven teaching tools and thought-provoking strategies. Finally, he is relatable to diverse groups and situations, passionate, and solutions-oriented.
He earned a Doctor of Education degree from Texas A& M University-College Station, TX, a Master of Education from Texas State University-San Marcos, TX, and a Bachelor of Education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, IL. He is a certified teacher and administrator in the State of Texas. He has authored and published several academic articles, including one in the prestigious Peabody Journal of Education. Also, he has conducted professional presentations at universities/colleges and conferences in the United States and abroad. He has been married to Delores Jones, aka “Mrs. Wonderful,” for 22+ years. He also enjoys spending time with Delores and members of his large family, traveling, and contributing his efforts and talents to make this world a better place for all.
